Intro to Physical Theatre - actor created ensemble

Using Jaques Lecoq based pedagogy we study the dynamics of the world around us and find the poetic nature of ourselves and objects. We create theatre that moves the audience with that clever, creative touch, that is so well known of Jaques Lecoq alumni world wide.

Learning theatre from Kjersti is like reconnecting to an old love. Someone you nurture and are nurtured by. Someone who sees others and bravely steps out to be seen. Someone who holds your heart in their soft warm palms. Someone who is full of childlike joy which runs deep like a river of the soul. You laugh and cry and realise that that someone is you - and you will never be the same again. That cherished, fragile, beloved place - Kjersti takes you right there, on the journey back to the heart of who you truly, creatively are.

This course is an actor-created ensemble training workshop that invites awareness of the body as it shape-shifts through physical action.

It also introduces new tools to deal with habits and blocks so that actors can become clean slates capable of creating authentic characters.

We will explore a physically poetic path towards the discovery of our own creative impulses while introducing some beginning physical theatre structures.

This will enable actors to create specific, informed character choices that are uniquely you.

Learning how to express ourselves physically, as we follow impulse, supports improvisation, helping actors confidently engage audiences, casting directors, and the camera.
